Some Federal actions by Kiley and other Republicans may sail through Congress rapidly.

UPDATE: Actions to remove the California Coastal Commission’s right to determine the number of SpaceX launches allowable on the California Coast will likely be put on hold after the recent explosion that scattered debris over international waters and lands during their launch out of Texas this week. The eyes of the world are on those “rapid unscheduled disassemblies”.
As of Jan 19, Washington House Republican Kevin Kiley is supporting a number of actions against the state of California.
WASHINGTON — Republican legislators, lead by some California representatives, are wasting no time removing obstacles for Musk, Zuckerburg, and other Silicon Valley entities. Many are also championing TikTok.
Kiley, who sits on the House Transportation Committee, has volunteered to destroy California’s high-speed rail project. Favored by Newsom still, it has lost support among the populace as the goals have changed and the price has soared.
Kiley is also pushing back against The Coastal Zone Management Act that put restraints on SpaceX. Kiley is joining the YIMBYs, Governor Newsom and Senator Wiener who want to remove all restrictions on development on the Pacific Coast. Senator Wiener has spent decades watering down CEQA laws written to preserve and protect the natural coastline from unwanted and unanticipated environmental consequences. If anything he will be jealous of the speed with which Kiley works from Washington. He wants nothing more than to join him.
Kiley also introduced the New Space Age Act bill to streamline the oversight process for the commercial space industry by having it report directly to the Secretary of Transportation. The recent explosive launch out of Texas may put a damper on SpaceX for a while.
Tax policy alterations against solar and renewables are popular among some circles in Washington and they may be used to unravel the $7,500 consumer tax credit for electric vehicle purchases. Musk supports this because he assumes his customer base is too rich to care and it will help him out pace his EV competitors who are selling to a less wealthy clientele.
More tax proposals will no doubt sail through, as well as deregulation of AI and Silicon Valley. TikTok is probably off the hook as well.
EXPLOSION is the word of the week. Regulatory issues around SpaceX launches will probably have to wait after the “mishap” over the Caribbean that dumped residue on international waters and Islands in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
